FS9 tough love

FS9 tough love

Sun Mar 23, 2014 12:37 am

After experiencing with my FS2004 (ATC won't respond at all or won't respond when I ask for certain things) I got really angry and decided to uninstall FS2004 and give it (and myself) a nice break. Said and done! Only that...I found myself reinstalling FS the next day. The reason I got so is because the majority of simmers describe their FS9 experience to be a very stable one, I on the other side, experience quite a lot of , in most cases, I can fix it, sometimes I find the cause and a solution, sometimes only the solution and sometimes all I can do is to reinstall FS and hope that he issue won't come back. Dunno why the heck ATC played dead with me (happened on last 2 IFR flights)...searched the net and found a bunch of FS9ers experiencing more or less the same problem, but I haven't found a clear cause let alone a solution for it. Hope the reinstall fixed it, if not, the hell with it.

I have the sense that the humanity tends to adopt the worst possible services and products as universal, when it comes to IT, PC and so on - Microsoft is one of the most faulty operating systems...people made it the ULTIMATE OS choice; Skype is one of the least attractive/featured internet videocall providers (plus, it has some privacy issues as far as I know, your IP is not that hard to be found out)...people made it the ULTIMATE net videocall service; YouTube is probably the most flawed video sharing website with one of the least stable video-playing experiences..people made it the ULTIMATE video sharing platform (THESE ARE MY PERSONAL VIEWS) and I tend to believe the same applies to flight sims, we all love MSFS (including me) but what if this is just another case of the worst product being universally adopted? What if developers would massively start developing (the way they do for MSFS) for X-Plane (a superior FS..and more stable...I guess)? Just a thought...

Anyways, wish me luck with my new install or else...................I'll start

Continued my flight, same crap, all over again, this time it won't talk at all unless I wanna cancel my IFR. I can cancel the flight plan and make a new one in flight, but it's still utterly annoying. God, if only X-Plane had as many addons as MSFS

There is a real snafu in ATC when you fly the Aleutian Chain from the Alaskan mainland in FSX. It will run you around in circles big time. The trick is to shut the blasted radio off by setting another frequency and flying strictly GPS.

I don't think I'll ever try radar, the way the the phrases are morphing with each other is awful...IMHO.

Yup there are bugs in both of 'em. Let me know how "radar" works.

Found a new lead LINK. I too use high altitude airways in flight planner as the 2nd poster says...I hope it's a bug, by default, as a gift from Microsoft

Thanks my friend! Good (sorta) to know I'm not the only one. I've been thinking of trying Radar Contact but it sounds awful!

I have had ATC go dead in both FS9 and FSX. I discovered that if you douse the ATC window and bring it back, it will work 90% of the time in both programs. Just sayin'...give it a try.
