NAH .... it's "ME" that's making the screw-ups (overworked, underpaid, and badly in need of a break too .... and all that sort of stuff ) .... so .... "THANKS" for detecting, and then correcting, that other error/omission for me Dorel
These brand new HS-121 TRIDENT 1E specific RR Spey 511 soundpacks are all available from FLIGHTSIM.COM .... and not from AVSIM as mentioned in my above text, so, I've corrected that particular reference accordingly
"NEW HS-121 TRIDENT 1E RR SPEY 511 SOUNDPACKS FOR FS2004 & FSX"
The following information serves to introduce 5 (5X) brand new RR SPEY 511 soundpacks by Benoit PLAMONDON and for David MALTBY´s HS-121 TRIDNT 1E series aircraft simulations which are available for "FREE" download from the following website address :-
PLEASE NOTE: These particular soundpacks are "TRIDENT SPECIFIC" versions of the previous BAC ONE ELEVEN 200/-300/and -400 specific RR SPEY 511 soundpacks recently upgraded by Benoit .... just several weeks ago in fact. These brand new soundpacks are best suited/customised for the DMFS TRIDENT 1E series simulations only.
Different people harbour different tastes .... and it´s with these particular preferences in mind that Benoit has released a total of five (5X) separate RR SPEY 511 soundpacks especially for these HS-121 TRIDENT simulations and which are separated into the following 3 categories .... each of which are available for "FREE" download from the following website address ....
1. "AI TRAFFIC SOUND" .... this particular soundpack is intended for those whom want authentic audio to support their AI HD-121 TRIDENT 1E traffic.
FILE NAME = fsx_spey511_trident-1E_ai.zip
PLEASE NOTE: This particular AI traffic soundpack is "FSX (only) compatible. There is no equivalent FS2004 compatible AI traffic HS-121 TRIDENT RR SPEY 511 soundpack available for FS2004.
2. "FLIGHTDECK & EXTERIOR SOUND" .... this particular soundpack is intended for those whom prefer high-quality audio based on what can be heard from an exclusively "flightdeck perspective" only .... with all of the usual external view audio as well. What is heard from the flightdeck is quite different from what is heard from the PAX cabin perspective on any jetliner. For e.g .... when using this particular soundpack one will he treated to the predominant sound of flightdeck based avionics and wind noise in proportion to the aircrafts speed and with very little audible engine noise at all .... and .... when selecting the flaps and landing gear one will only hear the "click" associated the these levers being selected .... and a whole lot more too. Folk preferring this sort of flightdeck based audio ambiance should download either one of the following 2 soundpacks in accordance with their particular sim version of choice :-
"FS2004 (only) HS-121 TRIDENT 1E RR SPEY 511 - FLIGHTDECK & EXTERIOR SOUND" FILE NAME = fs9_spey511_trident-1E_fd.zip
"FSX (only) HS-121 TRIDENT 1E RR SPEY 511 - FLIGHTDECK & EXTERIOR SOUND" FILE NAME = fsx_spey511_trident-1E_fd.zip
3. "WING & EXTERIOR SOUND" .... this particular soundpack is intended for those whom prefer high-quality audio based on what can be heard from an exclusively "PAX cabin perspective" only .... with all of the usual external view audio as well. What is heard from the PAX cabin is quite different from what is heard from the the flightdeck on any jetliner. For e.g .... when using this particular soundpack one will be treated to the predominant sound of cabin airconditioning and a different type wind noise in proportion to aircraft speed variations and over more obvious engine noise too .... and .... when selecting the flaps and landing gear one will only hear the associated flap motors along with the muffled "rumble" of the landing gear being extended .... and a whole lot more too. Folk preferring this sort of PAX cabin based audio ambiance should download either one of the following 2 soundpacks in accordance with their particular sim version of choice :-
"FS2004 (only) HS-121 TRIDENT 1E RR SPEY 511 - WING & EXTERIOR SOUND" FILE NAME = fs9_spey511_trident-1E_wv.zip
"FSX (only) HS-121 TRIDENT 1E RR SPEY 511 - WING & EXTERIOR SOUNDS" FILE NAME = fsx_spey511_trident-1E_wv.zip
Simpy enter the above state file names .... or .... the name "BENOIT PLAMONDON" .... into the FLIGHTSIM.COM library search box in order to target, and download, any of the above FS audio files.
Here are some "FSX specific" promotional videos (made by Benoit) to demonstrate the integrety of each of these new RR SPEY 511 soundpacks for especially the DMFS HS121 TRIDENT 1E simulations :-
It is hoped that similar .... "SEPARATE" ..... RR SPEY 512 version soundpacks for the DMFS BAC ONE ELEVEN 500 .... and .... DMFS HS121 TRIDENT 3 simulations .... "may" also become available sometime within the not too distant future.
Funny that you should mention the COMET in this particular case .... because I was thinking along similar lines myself .... BUT .... ended up reserving my comments.
"YES" .... leaders in technology (particularly in the case of aviation technology) will always be the first to reap the (financial) benefits .... BUT ALSO .... often end up paying the price for their trail-blazing entrepreneurship sometimes too .... and which is almost precisely what happened in the case of the DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT COMPANY and its COMET 1, -1A, and -2 aircraft.
Fortunately .... things haven´t got to this stage with the B787 and any concerns so far experienced are, hopefully, just a part of a necessary learning curve associated with the introduction of new technology that, thankfully, hasn´t resulted in the loss of any human life either in the air or on the ground .... BUT .... let´s also hope to God that whatever the future price of technological advancement might be for both BOEING and its B787 operators, that this, doesn´t ever, end up being realised per a body count .... and that history doesn´t end up repeating itself either.
It´s a sad fact of life though .... that throughout aviation history the wheel has often ended up being re-invented as a result of progress and technological advancement .... and that improved aviation safety standards have also, unfortunately, often only come about through chasing ambulances and attending funerals.
In fact aviation .... and aviation safety in particular .... has often been regarded as "TOMBSTONE TECHNOLOGY".
The thing is .... aeroplanes are mechanical things.
They do beakdown .... and .... bit´n´pieces do, and have always, fallen of them/all sorts of aircraft types (in fact a part having fallen off another aircraft was "one of" the contributing factors, if not the prime instigator, in regard to the AF CONCORDE crash at CDG during July 2000) .... and this sort of thing does tend to happen with greater frequency than one might imagine.
Things like this are "concerning" and can hazard aviation safety .... I agree .... but .... I do also think the world media "DOES" often tend to over-sentationalise in response these sorts of occurrences.
Some "ISSUES" of concern have been publicized with regard to the new B787 though .... and there may possibly be a degree of foundation to some of these .... otherwise the damned things wouldn´t have been subjected to a fairly lengthy grounding earlier this year.
Oppinions I´ve been exposed to from within the airline industry (and by that I mean very long term professional engineering experience) seem to "SUGGEST" .... (a) because the B787 represents such a considerable technological leap-forward then such introductory problems have got to be expected until the industry learns to better adapt/understand it .... and (b) it´s also a whole new generation of designers and engineers that have been responsible for bringing the B787 into fruition and whilst that´s of no real major concern they´re aparently not of the same same fundamental background as those whom brought each of the preceding Boeing family of aircraft into existence.
Personally .... I don´t necessarrily subscribe to either of these "oppinions" .... BUT .... it "IS" what´s been reported to me by some very senior and competent engineering people (of more than 40 years experience) within a major international airline.
I´ve also heard that the new B787 is also apparently overweight as well .... and .... isn´t meeting Boeings promised performance projections either, but again, this could, and does, apply to any number of other aircraft types produced by other manufacturers too.
I think these sorts of things "DO" need to be taken with "a grain of salt".

"IF" anyone has any queries then do not hesitate requesting further information.
A similar BAC ONE-ELEVEN soundpacks featuring the RR SPEY 512 engine version (these engine exhibit different audio charactristics) especially for DMFS BAC ONE ELEVEN 500 model will also become available in the not too distant future.
There´s been quite a bit of debate about this (the new AIR NEW ZEALAND livery) back at home.
This is the AIR NEW ZEALAND livery which was introduced during 1997 .... and still based on the airlines tradional pacific jade and blue colours which are representative of the Pacific Ocean and has been regarded as the airlines coporate colours since its TEAL (TASMAN EMPIRE AIRWAYS LIMITED) days from the 1940´s ....
And this´s what most of would prefer to have seen .... "IF" there was going to be any change in the airlines coporate image/identity at all ....
And this is what was being pondered throughout 2012 ....
And of course this´s what we´re now, apparently, going to end up/be stuck with ....
Most of us wanted to see the overall black aircraft livery with its double fern leaf (it´s a stylized representation of our Silver Fern leaf which "IS" New Zealand native flora and a national icon (as per the 2nd image above) of the country too. This particulart livery was introduced (on 1 B777-300ER, 2 A320-200´s, a BEECH 1800D, and an ATR-72) to promote the Rugby World Cup which New Zealand hosted, and won, back in late 2011, but, which "DOES", apparently, require quite difficult application process .... in fact save for subtle pressure applied by AIR NEW ZEALAND, Boeing were, initially, very reluctant to do it at all.
The "pondered" option (as per the 3rd image above) has been applied to at least 2 ATR-72´s and an A320-200, but, apart from still comprising of New Zealands national colours (black and white) .... it has to be "THE MOST B-O-R-I-N-G AND UNIMAGINATIVE" airline livery ever dreamed up by a (grossly over payed) corporate mind. Consequently tgis particular idea was abandoned/dumped as a result of a change at coporate management level late last year.
What we´ve endered up with now (as per the 4th/A320-200 image above) .... "IS" slightly better and along the lines of what most of us wanted to see, BUT, the general feeling among many of us is that this particular new Silver Fern leaf logo .... whilst it "IS" more authentic to the shape of that of our national flora .... it also too close resembles the shape of a "WHITE FEATHER" (a possible misinterpretation by foreign nationals whom aren´t familiar with New Zealand national flora) .... and I think we all (most of us at least) know the meaning/signicance behind "the white feather" (= "COWARD")
OH .... and .... we mustn´t forget AIR NEW ZEALAND´s current logo jet too .... B777-319ER ZK-OKP .... which is promoting "THE HOBBIT" movie by New Zeland film director Peter JACKSON ....
It´s early days yet .... and any/every FS website needs time (a lot of time) in order to be able to develop, but, I hope the FS community might help do precisely that .... and in a very "POSITIVE" way .... over time/during the days/weeks/months that follow.
