The Hauraki Gulf, is located in the North Island of New Zealand. Its an extensive body of water enclosed within the 80KM length Coromandel Peninsula located to the east of Auckland .... and both Great Barrier and little Barrier Islands located to its northeast .... ánd the Firth Of Thames located to the south .... and which then extends along the eastern/Pacific coastal seaboard of the greater Auckland region and as far north as Cape Rodney. Enclosed within this roughly 4.000 square KM stretch of water are some 50 islands (although not all of these are publicly accessible or even populated) .... as well as countless mainland coastal community destinations also. Being an aquatic adventure wonderland of such quality and natural beautiful this region has also .... by New Zealand government/Conservation Department legislation .... been declared a Maritime Park since 2000. This scenery is "fairly" accurate .... and is represented using the 20 meter New Zealand mesh terrain by Christian STOCK/"The Red Baron" (payware only unfortunately) .... supported by a combination of both Christian STOCK´s own New Zealand land class scenery, Lennart ARVIDSSON´s more general FS2004 scenery upgrades (which are also absolutely ideal for New Zealand scenery enhancement), and both Perfect Sky and Perfect Water scenery/environmental enhancements also .... ALSO FEATURING .... Joe BINKA´s GRUMMAN WIDGEON model and and panel (it´s a simple/basic panel configuration but which is otherwise "quite adequate") .... supported using aircraft textures by both Michael VERLIN and Rui CRISTINA and Nick´s Proo Dust & Spray Effects .... all of which are available from both FLIGHTSIM.COM and AVSIM.COM.

Although the DH COMET was not the first jet powered aircraft to be designed for intended civil use .... it did become "THE VERY FIRST" such aircraft to be developed (by the British) to "a practical stage" and actually enter commercial airline service .... with BOAC on May 2nd 1952. These are JENS B.KRISTENSEN´s COMET 1/1A and COMET 2 models and textures (hosted as a complete package at FLIGHTSIM.COM) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery.

Queenstown/Lake Wakatipu, South Island, New Zealand is is ocated within the Otago district and southeastern chain of the mighty Southern Alps .... the compact and "picture-postcard-perfect" township of Queenstown (boasting some of New Zealand's finest cafes, bars, restaurants, shopping, and other seasonal recreational fascilities .... including the steamship "EARNSLAW" which continues to ply the lake to the thrill and enjoyment of visitors) is nestled inside a glacier valley situated on the central northeastern shoreline of pristine Lake Wakatipu .... surrounded by some of the South Island's most majestic/impressive mountain scenery. Queenstown is a gateway to the Southern Lakes District, and the Milford Sound/Fiordland, Mount Aspiring, and Mount Cook National Parks .... all of which are in relatively close proximity to each other. After Christchurch it's "the most popular" South Island tourist detination for both foreigh and domestic travellers alike .... especially during winter months when the ski feilds of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Mountain Range provide some of the very best skiing fascilities available anywhere within the South Island .... and possibly New Zealand. If Milford Sound/Fijordland National Park is the show case example of unspoilt New Zealand natural beauty .... and Mount Cook the crown of the countries alpine scenic wonderland region ... then the picturesque serenety of Queenstown/Lake Wakatipu must be regarded as "a jewel of the crown" in regard to premier New Zealand tourist destinations. This scenery is "fairly" accurate .... and is represented using the 20 meter New Zealand mesh terrain by Christian STOCK/"The Red Baron" (payware only unfortunately) .... supported by a combination of both Christian STOCK´s own New Zealand land class scenery, Lennart ARVIDSSON´s more general FS2004 scenery upgrades (which are also absolutely ideal for New Zealand scenery enhancement), and both Perfect Sky and Perfect Water scenery/environmental enhancements also .... all of which is then represented here per my own FS2004 imagery and accompanying descriptive text. Mount Cook Aerodrome/National Park, South Island, New Zealand is by no means as isolated as Milford Sound .... but .... it's none-the-less as scenic/picturesque through being surrounded by geography that impresses as well as imposes its own unique aviation challenges. Most tourists pass through Mount Cook on coach tours en route between Christchurch and Queenstown .... usually stopping for a superb, pre-paid, buffet lunch at the Mount Cook Hermitage Hotel .... and/or .... the opprtunity of enjoying the thrill of a magnificent/never-to-be-forgotten flight-seeing experience over the mountains and glaciers of this intensely beautiful alpine region of New Zealands South Island .... before proceeding on to Queenstown. Mount Cook is also the location and of New Zealands highest mountain .... "MOUNT COOK" .... named after British navigator/explorer Captain James COOK (although he didn't actually sight the mountain himself) whom re-discovered New Zealand during the late 1700's and claimed it for the British crown, after its first having been discovered and settled by Polynesian migrants during pre-European Pacific times (as well as its also having been discovered and "partially charted", before COOK, and by the Dutch navigiator Abel TASMAN during the 1600's. This majestic twin peaked mountain is the crown of New Zealand's Southern Alps and is also known, locally, by its Maori name of "AORAKI" .... meaning "CLOUD PIERCER". It rises to an altitude of some 12,349 FT.

Milford Sound/Fiordland National Park .... is located within the Fiordland National Park region on the lower south western shoreline of New Zealand's south Island. It is extremely remote and has to be one of the most pristine and geographically beautiful popular tourist destination anywhere within New Zealand's South Island .... if ones lucky enough to be able to visit on those 1 or 2 days of any week throughout the year when it´s not raining there. It may also, possibly, be considered one of the most difficult/challenging destinations to fly into, or out of, anywhere within New Zealand .... which, due to restrictions imposed by its surrounding terrain is something, perhaps, best described as akin to being "stuck between a rock and a very hard place" .... litterally.

This´s what might typically be seen on any AKL/CHC New Zealand domestic flight .... flying with AIR NEW ZEALAND or JETSTAR and aboard either airlines A320-200 or B737-300 aircraft.

I never saw many CARAVELLE´s .... with the exception of 2 aircraft operated by AIR CALEDONIE INTERNATIONAL and which serviced AKL during the late 1980´s (although the UTA CARAVELE´s did also service AKL too for a short period during the mid 1960´s .... but .... that was a little bit before my aviation photo career) .... and some of the FRENCH AIR FORCE/REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE aircraft (based in Tahiti) and which also, occasionally, transited through AKL on diplomatic business during the 1980´s and 90´s .... along with the occasional LAS COLOMBIA freighter sighting here at BOG during 2000 as well. So far as I´m aware .... "none" of these elegant and classic French jetliners remain in service bow anywhere in the world .... so .... I consider those which I were fortunate enough to see, and record on film (this being before the "digital SLR" age of course), were "a treat" in as much as a pleasure to the eye, and ear, to observe ..... and then preserve photograpgically. These are all "original" AFG models by Esa KAIHLANEN (now hosted by HJG) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery. Each of these textures (by a variety of different FS artists) are currently hosted by HJG.

I only ever got to fly on an L1011 "once" .... with HA and operating between RAR and AKL during January 1990 (a surprise DC8-62 replacement for this flight). A bit smaller than the DC10, but, a little wider than the B747 also .... I enjoyed my "one´nónly" L1011 TRISTAR experience. These are all VISTALINERS models by Erick CANTU .... with textures currently hosted by HJG (along with "a whole lot more" L1011 liveries too) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery.

Maybe not quite "elegance Francaise" en the minds of some.... BUT .... however "pig ugly" this big aircraft might in some minds it "IS", still, none-th-less technically "IMPRESSIVE" .... to say the very least. These are all PROJECT AIRBUS models .... with textures by Carlos Eduardo SALAS (each of which is currently hosted at FLIGHTSIM.COM) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery.

All of my happiest/most pleasant wide-body flight memories were associated with the DC10 (NZ and UT aircraft primarily). These textures are among those included in a "Private FS Project" which I´ve been s-l-o-w-l-y advancing during the past 2 (almost) years now. These are the "original" VISTALINERS models by Erick CANTU (also once offered by both FFX and SGA) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery .... most of these textures are "BRAND NEW" (having not yet been released) or upgrades of previously existing textures by a variety of FS artists.

I´ve always liked the A300B (even got to fly a lot on the AA aircraft on the MIA/BOG route .... whilst they were still part of its fleet inventory until fairly recently) .... since, like all/most things French, it, IMHO, has quite an elegant silhouette. These are the "original" VISTALINERS models by Erick CANTU (also once offered by both FFX and SGA) .... and supported by "my own" FS2004 imagery .... most of these particular textures are not yet publicly released.
